Currently any mandatory fields are filled with default data. And if you do try to run SQL it will give you an error. (as it should).

But we while a mandatory field is empty (while selected) or was empty (upon un-selecting or selecting something else) they could have a red border or any feedback that the field can't be empty. Alternative but it's uglier it just adding the "*" like forms do.
