Tablet mode on auto leads to tablet mode being enabled on phone

Steps to reproduce the bug

1. Install app on phone (Pixel 8 Pro)
2. Observe tablet mode being used with default settings

Expected behavior

The app doesn't use tablet mode on "auto" and the UI shows up in vertical mode.

Actual behavior

The UI is displayed horizontally when tablet mode is set to "auto"

What is the value of dpi in the phone set to?

Where do I see that? According to a Google search, the display has 489 dpi.

You have to turn on developer options(search on how to do it) then find dpi dp in it.
