Are you trying a fresh install or a update over current version?

If you downloaded 0.27.6 from F-droid (the fdroid signed apk) but 0.27.7 from GitHub for quick update, you will have to export database, uninstall 0.27.6 and install the latest github version(It is a one time process) or wait for fdroid to build, the process may take 3-4 days after the latest version is released on github & on our website.

If you are going to update via f-droid and have installed it from github for faster updates then add this REPO to your f-droid client app

and Be happy upon changing repo-source. Slower updates v/s faster updates, choice is yours. So recommendation would be to spend on one time "change the update source from fdroid to NewPipe's F-Droid repository" as it has same apk signature to that of github release (the quickest method).

I installed from F-Droid but not update to github, causing install failed, I installed from github but recommened, F-Droid wait too long.

For faster & smooth update process just add "NewPipe's F-Droid repository" discussed above in your fdroid app or its client like droid-ify. It has same apk as github, so you can quickly update through your fdroid app or droid-ify (it is a good client app for fdroid however I haven't used it on Tv yet), when a new version is released
