Subtitles only display a white rectangle

Steps to reproduce the bug

1. Play any video
2. Activate subtitles

Expected behavior

The app should use system settings for caption displays.

Actual behavior

Any captions are effectively a white block. The length changes, so i assume the subtitles are displayed correctly, but simply as white text on a white background. Changing system caption display settings and rebooting the app changes nothing, as does changing the subtitles' language or switching videos.

It feels like a somewhat recent regression, but i don't remember the last version i succesfully used subtitles on.

It works fine in other apps, just tested in youtube, i'll try as well in VLC.

Just confirmed subtitles work fine in VLC as well. The bug is still present as of version 0.26.
